Timms Hill, 1951.5 feet

Introduction

The Wisconsin High Point is Timms Hill, located at 45° 27' 04"N, 90° 11' 42"W in Price County. Its elevation is 1951.5 feet above sea level. Our whole family climbed it on September 2, 2002.

Another nearby summit, Pearson Hill, is also 1951 feet above sea level.

Approaches to the Timms Hill Trailhead

Timms Hill can be approached from the west (from Ogema), or from the east (from Spirit). We, having come from Mount Arvon earlier that day, drove through Spirit, and turned left onto ___. The route in and out of the trail head is a narrow, one-way loop.

Parking

The parking lot at the Timms Hill trail head holds about 15 vehicles. There is a picnic area and restrooms.

Trails to Timms Hill

It's a single trail, well marked, blazed with white paint and railed with warning signs not to stray from the path.

The Trail

The trail is an uphill dirt path, steep in places, with this one bridge.

The Summit

Here is the final part of the climb and the tower, which base is the high point:

Posing at the top with various members of the climb:

This was my third, Krystyn's third, Shads' third, Zeke's second, Tammy's first, Matthew's first, and Faith's first, though Faith and Matthew had to be carried part of the way.

The View from the Top

I read several trip reports before our trip, but I was unaware that there was a steel tower next to the wooden one. Krystyn and I climbed the wooden tower and took these views:

I didn't see the Geological marker is, nor a registration book.

The Climb Down

It was quite cloudy our whole time there. We heard thunder while we were lounging on the top and decided to get back to the van quickly.

The Route Out

We continued on the one-way road out:

It did rain some, but not much until we got to Ogema.
