Introduction

Polk County's High Point is located in Section 26 of Columbia County, behind a cemetary. I visited there on May 27, 2005, after completing Mahnomen County.

Approaches to the Polk County High Point

From
and turned right into Cemetary.

Parking

I waited for some mourners to exit the cemetary and parked off road.

The Trail

I walked around the south side of the cemetary and walked downhill into the woods, through a shallow swamp, and uphill to an open area of tall grass.

The Summit

The Climb Down

I returned the same way back to my car.

The Route Out

I got back to U.S. 2 and drove northwest to County Road 8 on my way to Red Lake County.
