2 hills on Frenchman's Bluff: 1350+ feet

Introduction

The Benchmark on Frenchman's Bluff shows 1354 feet. The two hills are located in Section 18 of Flom Township. I visited there on May 27, 2005 after completing Hubbard County.

Approaches to Frenchmans Bluff

From the intersection of State Highway 113 and County Road 36, near the southeastern corner of Norman County,
I drove north on C.R. 36 and parked on the roadside near a sign. It was raining heavily, so I waited a few minutes for it to ease up.

When I started up the hill, I noticed a sign instruction visitors to park south of there at the parking lot and walk up from there, so I turned around and parked at the designated area.

The Trail Head

The Trail

I walked up to the first area by way of grass trails.

Area 1: The Summit

The Walk Between High Point Areas

I continued northwest to the second, benchmarked area. It was on the other side of a barbed wire fence in a pasture.

It was my first high point area in an active pasture. There were cows even near the summit.

Area 2: The Summit

The Walk Back to My Car

I walked back the same way.

The Route Out

I got back to S.H. 113, and drove east to pick up Clearwater County.
