Nicollet County, which borders the Minnesota River on two of its three sides, is Minnesota's laggard county. Its high point is in a field at: 44° 26' 50"N, 94° 28' 17"W, less than a mile south of the Sibley-Nicollet County Line.
I visited there on November 11, just after finishing the 12 high points of Sibley County.
Although one could approach from Lafayette to the east, like David Olson did, I came from the north on Sibley County Road 3, which number changes to Nicollet C.R. 7.
I parked in an approach about 0.7 miles south of the county line, about 300 feet from the high point.
I walked through the plowed field to the high point of the hill.
It is a typical field hill, which is right in the middle of the 1060' contour.
I returned to my car, spending 7 minutes in the ascent exercise.
It was starting to get late, so I continued on C.R. 7 south to C.R. 1, going east to Minnesota State Highway 15. There I went north on 15, to its junction with S.H. 19, right on 19, then took the left split with S.H. 5, and, when it merged with U.S. Highway 212, stayed on 212 toward Carver County's 7 high points.
