Le Sueur County's Highest Point is on a hill partially wooded, partially agricultural. It is about a mile from Blue Earth's High Point, a convenient trip two-fer. I visited there on October 30, 2004.
I came from my partial completion of Rice County, taking Minnesota State Highway 60 through Elysian, then north on Le Sueur County Road 130 for 1.5 miles, then left onto Quiet Road for 1.7 miles, where I parked under the power line wires.
It was actually past where I needed to, but it was relatively out of sight of the new house on the hill near the road.
The cornfield between the truck and the high point hill was as yet unharvested. Because the hill house has a large northern exposure and can overlook the entire field, I stayed in the field rather than between the woods and the field. Then I got to a point directly south of the high point and stayed between the rows until the summit area. At some point, I lost one of my gloves out of my coat pocket.
The part of the hill in the field is lower than the part in the woods. I walked along the summit ridge to a point about 80 feet into the woods which I consider to be the highest. There are tree stumps there. It took me 10 minutes to get there.
I went back pretty much the same way I came. The total time out of my truck was 17 minutes.
I took advantage of the nearness of Blue Earth's County High Point by driving 0.7 miles northwest on Quiet Road, then south along the Blue-Earth/Le Sueur County Line for 0.4 miles to the highest point on the road.
