Our Hubbard County, Minnesota Highpointing Page

1 unnamed hill in Paul Bunyan State Forest: 1840+ feet

Introduction

Hubbard County's high point is in Section 9 of Thorpe Township, at 47° 07' 58"N, 94° 52' 17"W. I visited there on May 27, 2005 after completing Cass County.

Approaches to the Hubbard County High Point

I took Minnesota State Highway 64 north to S.H. 34 in Akeley.
I drove west on S.H. 34 and turned right onto County Road 2.

I drove north on C.R. 2 as it wound through the countryside.
I drove straight onto C.R. 91 and parked on the roadside nearest the high point area.

The Trail

I basically walked through the woods, bushwhacking all the way through fairly dense foliage.

The Summit

The summit is unmarked, but it looks like this:

I walked back about the same way.

The Route Out

I continued north on C.R. 91 to U.S. 71 / S.H. 200.
I drove west, then south on U.S. 71 and turned right onto S.H. 113
I drove west on S.H. 113 past the access road for Clearwater and Mahnomen high points, on my way to Norman County.
