Our Brown County, Minnesota Highpointing Page

1 unnamed field Hill: 1263+ feet

Introduction

Brown County's High Point is in Section 31 of Stately Township, in its southwestern corner. The intersection at the corner has a 1263' spot elevation, but an area in the field about 100 feet northeast is higher. I visited there on November 13, 2004 in darkness.

My Approach to the Brown County High Point

I drove north on U.S. 71 from Windom about 17 miles to Cottonwood County Road 10 (paved). One mile east of 71 on 10 was the high point area.

Parking

I parked at the intersection and shone my headlights into the field.

The Trail

The field was plowed and easy to see in the headlights.

The Summit

I walked to the hill and around the intersection to be sure, but I agree with David Olson that the hill 100 feet northeast of the intersection is the highest.

The Climb Down

I was in and out of my truck in about 6 minutes.

The Route Out

I got back onto U.S. 71 and drove south toward Cottonwood County's High Point.
